Built by clinicians. Governed by evidence.
PLEXSO is the only professional organization structured around TPE in sepsis as a discrete clinical specialty — not a subset of plasma therapy, not a subcategory of general sepsis care.
Practicing intensivists identified a consistent gap: peer-reviewed evidence on TPE in sepsis existed across dozens of journals with no single body consolidating, vetting, or contextualizing it for clinical use.
A specialty without its own infrastructure
PLEXSO was formed to close that gap — building the evidence infrastructure that the specialty required but had never had: curated literature, protocol clarity, and a vetted peer community.

Governed by practitioners, not administrators
The organization is directed by practicing intensivists, transfusion medicine physicians, and clinical researchers — specialists who run the protocols and read the data firsthand.
No industry sponsors. No administrative board. Decisions on curation standards, membership criteria, and publication priorities are made by the clinicians who use them.
PLEXSO does not address general plasma exchange, broad sepsis management, or adjacent therapies. The scope is fixed: therapeutic plasma exchange specifically as a treatment modality in sepsis, across adult and pediatric populations.
TPE in sepsis. Nothing broader.
Narrow scope is a design choice. Rigorous curation requires a defined boundary — one that prevents the evidence base from diluting into general commentary.
Access the evidence. Join the body that curates it.
Membership is open to clinicians and researchers with a direct practice or investigative interest in TPE and sepsis outcomes. Review what membership provides before applying.
